Cathedral Hill Montessori School is a registered nonprofit organization run by the Board of Directors. The board has up to nine members, including the Head of School, parents, and community members, who support the school’s mission and goals.
Board members serve two-year terms which start in August and participate in plenary meetings on the third Monday of every other month in addition to serving on at least one committee. The board is self-perpetuating with new members nominated by the Governance Committee and are elected by the board. Beth joined the board as Secretary in August 2020, after watching her daughter thrive as a member of the CHMS community. Beth taught English overseas before returning to the US, where she lived in Washington, DC and helped education-focused nonprofits win federal grants. She then returned to Minnesota, where she now is in a strategy and marketing role at 3M. Beth holds a bachelor’s in anthropology from Arizona State University, a master’s in international education from George Washington University, and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.
September joined the CHMS board July 2020. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Minnesota State University Moorhead in Psychology and Anthropology. She went on to attend the Montessori Training Center of Minnesota and completed her Master’s in Education from Loyola University Maryland. She was a Montessori guide at various schools in the Twin Cities. She currently administers a Mental Health Clinic in North Minneapolis. September lives in NE Minneapolis with her husband Cedric and has 2 adult children, 1 high schooler, and 1 just starting middle school. She’s also a very proud grandmother. September enjoys plants, growing food, harvesting, cooking, traveling and most things outdoors, especially walking her dog Malcolm.
